Does the base wear the skis or snowboards down?

Ski:

You can use your own equipment on the ski slope. We've experienced that skis with the production method "sintered base" has less risk of getting damaged due to frictional heat, but this is not a guarantee. At the top of the ski lift, there is a black silicone mat, which the skis must slide over. Here, the skis are greased with silicone, which along with the silicone on the ski slope, makes the skis glide on the surface. For safety, check regularly for any signs of damage to the skis. Skiing at high speeds increases the risk of frictional heat damaging the base of the skis. CopenHill does not provide any warranty or compensation for damaged skis.

Snowboard:

You can use your own equipment on the slopes. We've experienced that snowboards with the production method "sintered base" has less risk of getting damaged due to frictional heat, but this is not a guarantee. It is very important to be sure that the entire surface of your board gets covered in silicone before every run, otherwise the base can sometimes make marks, melt and cuts on your board. Snowboarding at high speeds increases the risk of the frictional heat damaging to the base of the snowboard. It is very important that you check regularly for any signs of damage on your snowboard. CopenHill does not provide any warranty or compensation for damaged snowboards.

Is it mandatory for everyone to wear a helmet?

It is mandatory for anyone under the age of 18 to wear a helmet while skiing, and we strongly recommend that everybody takes their safety repercussions and wears one when skiing/boarding.

CLOTHING AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

Will it be possible to ski all year round?

Yes, it will be. If it rains the base will become more slippery, but it will also make it more fun to ski on. If it snows – just perfect, then we can welcome you to a few hours of "real" ski holiday.

What type of clothing should I wear?

There is no specific demand on what clothes to wear, but we recommend wearing clothes that covers your legs and arms, plus gloves, to minimize damages if you should fall. Please note that the silicone surface on the ski slope is sticky, and can be transferred to your clothes if you carry your skis over your shoulder, or fall on the slope.
Have a look at this video with Thomas Uhrskov that explains what kind of gear you should wear here.

Does it ruin my clothes if I fall?

Depending on how wildly you ski, the clothes may get marks or get worn. The silicone layer on the base can also leave marks on the clothes. Be aware that the silicone on the base is somewhat sticky and can stick to the clothes if you carry the skis over your shoulder or fall on the slope.
